Perspective on Risk - Nov. 28 2023 (Charity Post)
“I cannot think of a more personally rewarding and appropriate use of wealth than to give while one is living, to personally devote oneself to meaningful efforts to improve the human condition.” Chuck Feeney
Hi all,
If you’ve been a reader for a while, you already know that every six months or so I try and appeal to your better angels to support the local food pantry where I volunteer once or twice a week, the Helping Hands Rescue Mission.
I’ve told you in the past that they were raising money to rebuild their Community Kitchen that was damaged in a fire. I wanted you to know that they’ve now gone to contract to get the needed work done, so thank you for your contributions.
That said, the project is not yet fully funded. So I would ask that you keep this charity in mind as you look at your year-end giving. I do not charge for the Substack, though I would hope that if you find this useful or amusing (or infuriating1) you might consider a donation to help rebuild the pantry. Please consider clicking through and donating - $5 or $5,000, every dollar helps.

I am grateful to those of you who actually sought to pay for my blatherings; I, of course, have not accepted them and would greatly prefer if you made a tax-deductible donation to this cause.
Thanks for being patient readers.
Or if I pester you with too many of these Perspectives, think of this as a way to occupy my time so that I will pester you less.
